A wide range of voluntary organisations provide transport in the county, many with financial assistance from the District and County Councils. In many cases, the activities of these groups offer flexible solutions which respond to the specific needs of people living in the local community.
Through the Wiltshire Rural Transport Partnership, local groups can get support, advice, information and training to run their own transport schemes.
The Wiltshire and Swindon Community Transport Association is an umbrella group that brings community transport groups together to share best practice and expertise. It also stages an Annual Conference every November with keynote speakers addressing current issues of interest.
There are 12 LINK schemes in the district. These offer a good neighbour and transport service to local people who are in need because of age, disability, low income, temporary illness or becasue their existing transport services are poor. LINK transport services can be provided for:

A new minibus-sharing initiative is being established by Salisbury District Community Transport – SAMBA (Salisbury Area Minibus Brokerage Agency). As part of this scheme, SDCT can now offer MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) minibus driver training to community groups in the Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire areas.

Community buses provide local door-to-door minibus services that are organised and driven by volunteers. These are mainly to benefit the elderly or those with mobility problems.
The Tisbury and District Community Minibus provides regular wheelchair-accessible minibus services in the Nadder Valley area. It also provides a service linking villages with Salisbury.

The minibus is also available for hire to groups, voluntary organisations and charities at competitive rates.
This new great-value demand responsive minibus service covers Bourton, Zeals, Stourton, Mere, West Knoyle, East Knoyle, Upton, Hindon, Sedgehill and Semley, linking into Wilts and Dorset services between Hindon and Salisbury and provides services into Warminster and Shaftesbury. A rail link service to Gillingham station operates on weekdays at peak times. There is also a popular Nightbus Wigglybus service service into and back from Salisbury on Saturday evenings. Concessionary fares passes are accepted on all Wigglybus services.
