Park and ride: apply for a Zip card

About this service

A Zip Card will make using the Park and Ride services in Salisbury quicker and easier. A Zip Card is a pre-pay card for Park and Ride, which works in much the same way as a mobile phone top-up card. You load money on a Zip Card via the site payment machines and then use it in much the same way as a regular Park and Ride ticket.

How to use a Zip Card

Insert your Zip Card into the Park and Ride site entry barrier. The entry barrier will tell you how much money there is currently loaded onto your Zip Card. Remove your Zip Card from the entry barrier and the barrier will raise and let you into the Park and Ride site. You don’t need any money loaded onto your Zip Card to gain entry to a Park and Ride site but you will need a minimum of £2 loaded onto your Zip Card to be able to exit from a Park and Ride site.
Once you have entered the Park and Ride site either:
- Show your Zip Card to the bus driver when boarding a Park and Ride bus (as you would with a normal Park and Ride ticket); or
- If necessary visit a Park and Ride terminal building and load money onto your Zip Card at one of the site payment machines. (With a Zip Card you will only ever need to use one of the site payment machines when you need to load money onto your Zip Card).
Upon returning to the Park and Ride site drive to the exit barrier and insert your Zip Card. The £2 daily tariff will then be deducted from your Zip Card by the exit barrier. The exit barrier will also tell you how much money there is currently loaded onto your Zip Card. Remove your Zip Card from the exit barrier and the barrier will raise and let you out of the Park and Ride site.

Loading money onto a Zip Card

Once you have a Zip card you can load as much cash value on to it as you like. At the moment you can only load value on to your Zip card with cash, but we will soon be offering you the facility to load value by credit/debit card. Credit/debit card transactions can only be processed £10 at a time. Therefore, if you want to load £20 on to your Zip card, you will need to perform two transactions.

How to apply for a Zip Card

To obtain a Zip card, simply fill in the application form on the back of the Park and Ride Zip card leaflet 72kb and return it to the council at the address below, or fill in the online form.
