Why use Park and Ride?

Park and Ride provides commuters and visitors to Salisbury with an affordable, frequent and stress-free way of accessing the offices, shops and attractions in the city centre.

There are a total of five Park and Ride sites planned for Salisbury. When open, the five sites will serve all the major approaches to the city.

The five Park and Ride sites will serve all the main approaches to the city, and are a key part of the Adobe PDFSalisbury Transport Plan 251kb. Their aim is to:

  • reduce traffic levels on city centre streets, particularly during peak travel periods;
  • reduce the level of noise and air pollution in the city centre and on the main approaches to the city centre;
  • provide a cheaper alternative to city centre car parking;
  • enable long-stay commuter car parking to be converted to short-stay car parking spaces to benefit shoppers, visitors, disabled people and to support local businesses;
  • improve the peak hour journey times and reliability of bus services through the introduction of bus priority measures;
  • improve road safety for cyclists on the main routes into the city and enable the re-use of city centre road space for the benefit of other road users;
  • increase the attractiveness of the city and highlight its historic buildings.

Park & Ride costs just £2.50 for your car, the driver and up to six passengers.
