Park and Ride: frequently asked questions

Can I leave my car parked overnight?
  • You can leave your car parked overnight at either Beehive or London Road. However, this is at your own risk as the car parks are not staffed during these times and therefore the district council accepts no responsibility for any damage that may occur to your car.
  • The charge remains at £2.50 per day or £2 per if you have pre-paid for your parking using a Zip Card.
  • If you plan to leave your car parked overnight, you must advise the site attendant of this and of your vehicle registration number.

Can I use my concessionary bus pass?
  • If you have a Wiltshire countywide concessionary bus pass for the elderly and disabled, which is issued by Salisbury District Council, you can use the Park and Ride service for free.
  • Simply use the Park and Ride in the normal way. However, on leaving, show your bus pass to the site attendant who will let you out of the car park.
Is there a height limit?
  • Yes, the height restriction at all sites is 8ft.
  • However, the Britford site has a large dedicated area with no height restrictions for oversize vehicles.
Can I catch the bus if I don’t park my car at the site?
  • Yes you can, the charge is £2.40 for a single adult fare and £1.20 for a single child fare. No return tickets are available.
Can I use my Wilts & Dorset bus pass on the Park & Ride buses
  • No. The service is operated by Wilts & Dorset on behalf of Salisbury District Council. As such the district council does not receive any revenue for bus pass use from the bus pass issuing company.
Who should I call if I have lost something?
  • If you lose something on the bus, please call Wilts & Dorset on 01722 336855.
  • If you lose something at one of the sites you should phone that site. You will find the phone number on the pages for each site:
    Britford
    Beehive
    Wilton
    London Road
What should I do if I return to the site after it has closed?
  • Please press the help button on the exit barrier. This will contact the CCTV control centre, who may be able to raise the barrier for you.
  • Please note that this facility is only available in genuine emergency cases.
Can I park my motor home at Park and Ride?
  • This facility is only available at our Britford site. As you arrive at Britford please park in the area to the right of the bus stop.
What facilities are available at the car parks?
Who should I contact if I would like to complain about the service?
  • In the first instance please call 01722 434325. However, if the complaint is about the bus service, we may have to forward this on to Wilts & Dorset.
I am disabled, can I use the service?
  • Yes. There are designated parking bays close to the terminal building. All buses are low floor and have fold down ramps for wheelchair access.
Who runs Park and Ride
  • The Park and Ride service is run by Salisbury District Council.
Are Sat Nav details available?
Can I Bicycle and Ride?
  • You can. We have stands at each of the Park and Ride car parks. You can leave your bike for free, but you will have to pay the normal bus fare.
Can I Park and Bike?
  • Yes, parking alone costs £1, but you will not be able to use the bus service.
Can I park my lorry overnight at Park and Ride?
  • No. The Park and Ride service does not facilitate overnight parking for lorries.
