Concessionary fares scheme

About this service

You can apply for a Wiltshire bus pass if you are a resident of the Salisbury District Council area who is over 60 or has a long-term disability. From 1 April 2006, concessionary travel has been free at all times of the day within the County of Wiltshire and Swindon Unitary Authority area.

Renewing your bus pass

Replacement bus passes are automatically sent out 7 days before the old pass expires. If you have not received your new pass before the old one expires, please telephone the council on the number below.

All renewals issued prior to 1 April 2008 will have an expiry date of 31 March 2008. Note that the new plastic concessionary bus passes are being processed nationally, which means that Salisbury District Council will no longer issue passes from our offices. Requests for passes should still be made to Salisbury District Council, but all cards will be issued by post.

Nationwide concessionary travel from 1 April 2008

In March 2008 all existing pass holders will receive a new style plastic concessionary bus pass. The new pass will provide you with free bus travel all day within Wiltshire (except Swindon, where free travel hours are limited). In addition, between the hours of 9.30am and 11pm you can use your new pass to travel on local bus services anywhere in England.

Temporary bus passes

Those pass holders issued with a temporary pass due to a delay in new passes being issued should note that all temporary passes have now expired, as of the 30 September. This means that we can no longer issue temporary passes.

Further details about the 2008 nationwide pass will appear on this website when they are clarified and you can keep up to date with the latest news about the scheme on the DirectGov website or download Adobe PDFQuestions and answers about concessionary fares 68kb.
