Cleaning your wheeled bin

It is good practice to keep any waste container clean, but it is for the individual householder to decide how this is done. This council does not sponsor or endorse any bin cleaning company.

Bagging waste, particulalry food waste and disposable nappies, before putting it in the bin will reduce the necessity for frequent cleaning and reduce the risk of bad odours. When necessary rinsing the bin with a disinfectant solution and dislodging any materials stuck to the inside with a long handled broom is usually sufficient. Remember also to disinfect the parts of the bin that you handle and wash your hands after handling waste or your bin.

Householders may choose to use one of the many companies who offer bin cleaning services but the council does not require you to do so.

This council neither has, nor has had, any dealings, agreements or arrangements with any bin cleaning company and does not currently provide its own bin cleaning service.

Bin cleaning companies have been instructed not to place stickers or labels on our property, in response to reports of such activity.
