One of the most important principles of the new Local Development Framework system of planning is basing policies and decisions on strong evidence. Evidence can come from a wide range of sources, from the national level (such as the Census), through regional and county bodies (such as the Wiltshire Biodiversity Action Plan), to local information and studies we have commissioned ourselves (such as on retail, open space, and flooding).
We must also ensure that all of our local policies are in accordance with those at a regional and national level.
Each major theme in the Core Strategy Preferred Options document is supported by “Topic Paper” documents which set out the context, evidence and issues in more detail. These are evolving documents and are intended to develop and change over time to accommodate the results of consultation and new evidence. Below you can see firstly the original topic papers which accompanied the “Our Place in the Future” consultation, and secondly addendums to these which contain analysis of the consultation and which fed into our Preferred Options document.
