One of the most important principles of the new Local Development Framework system of planning is basing policies and decisions on strong evidence. Evidence can come from a wide range of sources, from the national level (such as the Census), through regional and county bodies (such as. the Wiltshire Biodiversity Action Plan), to local information and studies we have commissioned ourselves (such as on retail, open space, and flooding).
We must also ensure that all of our local policies accord with those at a regional and national level.
Each major theme in the Our Place booklet and questionnaire is supported by a Topic paper document which sets out the context, evidence and issues in more detail.
