The summer of 2007 saw a major consultation exercise helping to shape the future of Salisbury and south Wiltshire over the next 15 years and beyond. It was the first stage in developing our “Core Strategy”, which is the basis of a new suite of planning documents called the Local Development Framework (LDF). It also invited comment on the next stage of the Salisbury Vision and is being used to support and inform a review of our Community Plans.
We asked local residents, together with local, regional and national organisations, for their views on how we should tackle a wide range of important and difficult issues. These include:
We are currently in the process of reviewing and analysing the public response to this consultation, and a report detailing all representations and our response will be published on these pages. In February 2008 we will publish a Preferred Options document, which will take the 'Our Place in the Future' documents one stage further, in presenting more specific and detailed options for planning policy. The document will highlight those which the council considers are the most appropriate to pursue and invite your comment on these.
This will be another important opportunity for you to get involved, so watch this space!
