Recycling sites

There are currently 70 sites in the district where the public can take materials to be recycled. Five materials are catered for although not every site has the capacity to have all the material bins.

Waste oil is accepted at the Churchfields Civic Amenity Site.

The council has passed its servicing of mini-recycling sites to Hills Waste to collect and process the materials.

The council's operational objectives are to:

  • Provide a waste paper and cardboard collection service for domestic and commercial premises.
  • Provide recycling facilities for glass bottles and jars through the provision of bottle bank skips at suitable locations throughout the district
  • Provide recycling facilities for cans and plastic bottles through the provision of can and plastic bottle skip type banks at major centres, and can and plastic bottle recycling bins at some mini recycling centres
  • Ensure that the recycling services are operated in accordance with the specification in the Waste Collection & Waste Recycling Services Contract
  • Support the provision of private sector paper banks at council operated recycling centres, if and when appropriate
  • Support the provision of private sector textile banks at council operated recycling centres

The council's recycling services are delivered through partnership arrangements.

The current contract is undertaken by Hills Waste.
