First Aid at work courses

Five Rivers Leisure Centre and Durrington Pool offer a full range of First Aid at Work courses, approved by the Health and Safety Executive. Both centres have had a 100% pass record for the past four years.

First Aid at Work (4 day course)

Recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as the qualification for First Aid at work. Assessment is in 2 stages. Stage 1 is a multiple choice question paper, 75% minimum pass mark, which must be passed prior to continuing to stage 2.

Stage 2 is a practical assessment in three parts:

• Casualty Management
• Resuscitation Procedures
• Incident Management.

Successful candidates will receive the Health and Safety Executive First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for 3 years.

Appointed Person

Emergency First aid in the workplace. A one day course for individuals who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid. By the end of the course, candidates will be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge and skills needed to deal with life threatening emergencies in the workplace.

Paediatric First Aid

Emergency first aid for children and babies. Developed for those who are responsible for the supervision of children and babies, this course will be of particular interest to child minders; crèche assistants; playgroup personnel; and youth organisations.

Ongoing assessment by the course tutor takes place for all Emergency First Aid courses. All successful candidates receive a certificate, approved by HSE and valid for 3 years.
