Salisbury is extremely fortunate in having a number of very attractive, interesting and varied parks within its boundaries. The following are the three major sites:
Situated at the edge of the City centre and alongside the River Avon, are the lovely Queen Elizabeth Gardens.
Admire the sensory garden, picnic on the grass or just lay back and admire the stunning view of the City's treasure - Salisbury Cathedral. Alternatively take a walk along the river bank, feeding the ducks along the way, to Long Bridge, to see the virtually unchanged view that prompted John Constable to paint his now famous view of Salisbury Cathedral from the water meadows.
Children can also enjoy the park as there is a well-equipped play area, large expanses of grass to play on, and in the summer, they can have a paddle in the stream.
Each summer a free programme of live music takes place in Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

To the south of the City Centre are the Winston Churchill Gardens. Beautifully laid out, with large grassy areas, majestic mature trees and a large children's playground, the Park is a relatively informal haven. Bordered by the main River Avon on two sides, the riverbanks offer a wide array of wildlife as well as healthy walks. For additional exercise, why not take a jog around the network of footpaths within the Park.
You could also visit the skate park and street hockey area to watch, or maybe join in with, the youngsters performing their fantastic feats on their rollerblades, skateboards and bicycles.
To the north of the City, Victoria Park is of a more traditional formal nature. Follow the pathway through the tranquil flowerbed area to the 'Sports area' incorporating Tennis, Crazy Golf and Bowls.
An extensive programme of Fun Days, Coaching and Tournaments are all part of the normal routine for the Victoria Park Tennis Centre. Please feel free to contact the centre direct on 01722 415089 to book your court, coaching course or round of crazy golf.
Salisbury Victoria Bowls Club manage the Bowling Green at Victoria Park, but rinks are always available to casual visitors. For further information about the Club or to make a booking, please phone Mrs Jean Hobbs on 01980 610050
