Salisbury District Council manages allotment sites located throughout the city, providing over 600 plots of varying sizes.
All sites have secure access points, fencing, noticeboards and water supplies.
In-person enquiries on allotments are dealt with at 16 Endless Street. Officers at Pennyfarthing House can only take payment, not deal with enquiries.
To apply for an allotment you will need to provide us with the following details:
You can apply for an allotment over the phone, by email, in person at the Parks Office at 16 Endless Street, or by completing our online application form - see contact details below.
Please note that we are currently only able to accept applications from residents living in Salisbury and the immediate vicinity. This decision was made because of current levels of demand for allotments and because people living outside of Salisbury are not charged a City Centre contribution in their council tax bill, so do not contribute towards the management and maintenance of the city's allotment sites. For residents who live elsewhere in the district, allotments are dealt with by the relevant parish or town council - contact your parish or town clerk.
If there is a plot available, we will ask you to look at this plot to decide whether you would like to take it on. If you choose not to take this plot, we will either offer you an alternative plot or put your name on our waiting list and contact you when another plot becomes available.
If there aren't any plots available at the time of your application, we will put your name on a waiting list and contact you when a plot becomes available.
To pay you will need your 5 digit reference (invoice) number. You will find this reference number on the invoice.
You can pay for your allotment:
Payments are made annually in January each year. Anyone taking on an allotment between 1 January and 31 August will be charged the full rate for the year. New tenants who take on their plot between 1 September and 31 December will not be charged for their allotment until the following January. This is because gorwing conditions are usually worse towards the end of the year.
