Noise pollution

About this service

Salisbury District Council will investigate complaints about noise disturbance where a record of events causing the disturbance has been completed.

Attempts will be made to resolve the situation informally but, if the noise persists, the council has powers to require nuisances to be abated.

These provisions will not usually apply to road or rail traffic or aircraft noise but these issues, along with potential noise from all types of premises, will be taken into account during the planning process for new or amended premises.

Noise pollution may arise from domestic, industrial, commercial, construction and entertainment premises or activities.

You will need

  • Name and address
  • Contact telephone number or email address
  • Address of the premises at which the alleged nuisance is occurring
  • The name of the owner / occupier (if known) of the premises at which the alleged nuisance is occurring
  • Type of noise (e.g. noisy neighbour, barking dog, etc)
  • Record of dates and times of occurrences
