Applications for council housing
To be eligible to go on the Waiting List
- you or your partner should live or work in the district, or
- have previously lived in the district, or
- be a member of the Armed Forces who has been stationed of quartered in the last 12 months of service and can produce an offer of employment in this district, or
- if you are over 60 and have children living in the district.
A separate process deals with homelessness.
How applications are assessed
Applications are prioritised by what points you are given when we receive your completed Waiting List form. When a vacant property is available to rent we decide who to offer the property to by looking at who has applied for that area, how many points they have and if the property is suitable for them. An explanation is given in the Information Pamphlet that you get with your application form.
