Choice Based Lettings is a new method of allocating social housing that is being introduced across Wiltshire. The government would like all local authorities and housing associations to have a CBL scheme in place by 2010. The government is also encouraging local authorities to establish schemes that will cross local authority boundaries. In Wiltshire the scheme will include North Wiltshire, Kennet, West Wiltshire and Salisbury district councils.
Choice Based Lettings allows landlords (the council and those Registered Social Landlords who have stock in the Salisbury district) to advertise their available homes. You can say whether you are interested in one or more properties and bid for it.
Choice Based Lettings will provide a more transparent way of letting homes and will give you more say in where you may find a home. We will publish data on the banding and date of the successful applicant so that people can see why their bid was unsuccessful. Read our frequently asked questions to help you understand what it means for you.
