Benefit - make a backdated application
About this service
You can request that your housing benefit application be backdated. However you must show us you had good reasons for failing to claim benefit earlier, and that those reasons continued up to the time that you made your claim.
Good reason for not claiming earlier may include hospitalisation, severe health problems, family bereavement or other similarly serious circumstances.
Not being aware that you could claim will normally not be considered as 'good reason'.
