About this service

Housing benefit helps tenants on low incomes to pay their rent.

Council tax benefit can be claimed if you are the liable person in your household. If you are not entitled to benefit in your own right, you may still be able to get help in the form of a second adult rebate, based on the income of people in the household other than the liable person.

If you have in excess of £16,000 in savings and capitals, you are not eligible for Housing/Council Tax Benefit.

To apply you will need to complete a Housing benefit and council tax benefit application form 347kb. It is important that you complete the form, as this will give us the information we need to process your application.
