Flooding

Householders are responsible for protecting their own property from flooding. Advice on how to do this can be found on the Environment Agency Website.

The council will by arrangement supply up to 10 empty sandbags free of charge to residents in flood risk areas to assist them with preparations to protect their home

In some localities where there is a known flood risk the parish council holds a limited supply of full and empty sandbags for distribution at times of emergency.

When a flood warning is issued by the Environment Agency the council will, where possible, provide free of charge sandbags to defend at risk properties or divert flood flows in the area to which the warning relates.

In a major flood event the council will take all reasonable steps to assist flooded communities.
