Volunteering

From now until April, the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) are holding volunteer days on the first Thursday of every month at Bemerton Heath and Barnard's Folly nature reserve.

The aim is to enable local people to join in the works to improve their local nature reserve. Work on these days will involve the lighter tasks, such as clearing paths.

According to Jon Rich, BCTV's project officer, the long-term aim of the scheme is to make the local nature reserve a place that local people really want to visit.

"This Local Nature Reserve belongs to the whole community and we hope the end result will be that more and more people visit this special area of green space that is on their doorstep, and really make it their own."
