Councillors

Salisbury District Council has 55 elected members or councillors. They all meet at Full Council meetings and ten members sit on the Cabinet. The Leader of the council is the leader of the political party who has formed the ruling adminstration, and the Chairman is elected by all 55 members to chair meetings of the Full Council.

Each councillor belongs to one of the four area committees for the North, West, South and City area. Councillors also belong to other committees covering planning, licensing, scrutiny and other issues. They must follow a formal code of conduct including the requirement for councillors to register their financial and other interests.

Other local elected representatives include parish councillors, county councillors, MPs and MEPs.
