Performance and finance

The council manages its performance and finance to improve how we do things and deliver better quality services to local people.

Salisbury District Council's budget is funded by government grants, council tax from residents and through fees and charges for services such as car parking and leisure centres. The council has overall financial strategies and plans, carries out quarterly budget monitoring, and every year publishes a statement of accounts. The Audit Commission is also required to carry out data matching exercises as part of the National Fraud Initiative.

We monitor our performance through Best Value, performance indicators and efficiency reports, and Comprehensive Performance Assessments submitted to the Audit Commission. Each year the council has published a Corporate Plan, summarising our achievements and performance over the previous year, and our plans for the year ahead.
