Two planning applications to build supermarkets at Amesbury have been called in by the Secretary of State.
In May, Salisbury District Council resolved to grant planning permission for two separate applications to build supermarkets, Tesco on London Road, and Asda on Solstice Park.
In August, the Secretary of State notified the council that this decision has been called in and a public inquiry into the applications will be held. She has called–in the applications because the proposed stores could potentially conflict with national policies.
The Inquiry will be held by a Planning Inspector who will gather evidence from all interested parties before making a recommendation to the Secretary of State. Currently, no date has been announced for the Inquiry.
