You can apply for someone to vote for you, called a "proxy". Your proxy then votes at your local polling station, or they can ask to vote for you by post.
You can print off an application form from the bottom of this page but please note that forms must be printed out, signed, and faxed or posted back to the address below. Emailed copies will not be accepted.
You can apply to vote by proxy at any time by completing and returning an application form.
If you want to vote by proxy the law says you have to give us a reason why you cannot vote in person. You can apply for one election only, or for a longer term.
Long term applications usually have to be supported by a doctor, employer or course tutor, depending on the reason why you are applying.
All applications must be signed and dated by the applicant and the applicant's date of birth must be given.
There are deadlines for receipt of applications in respect of particular elections. These deadlines are set out in the Notice of Election. Copies of this Notice for forthcoming elections will be displayed within the electoral area, and at the Council's main offices. Applications must be returned to: Electoral Registration Officer, Democratic Services Unit, PO Box 2117, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP2 2DS.
