In general, the higher the value or risk of a contract, the more necessary it is for it to be subject to a formal tendering process. In recognition of this, Salisbury District Council has set the following ‘thresholds’ for its procurement procedures. Every contract we offer must be dealt with as a minimum under the procedure corresponding to its value. However, the table below indicates the minimum requirements only and officers may decide to exceed them for particular contracts.
| Value | Procedure |
|---|---|
| Under £200 | No quotations required. This level of purchase is subject to a purchase order only. |
| £200 - £10,000 | Two quotations are required. |
| £10,001 - £30,000 | Three written quotations are required. |
| Over £30,000 | Public advertisement and invitation of formal tenders is required. |
| Over £139,893 (supplies and services), or £3,497,313 (works) | Public advertisement in the Official Journal of the European Union and invitation of tenders through the EU procurement process is required. |
