Local authorities have a considerable demand for the supply of goods, services and works. These pages are intended to provide information to contractors, potential contractors and other interested parties about how Salisbury District Council makes procurement decisions and aim to encourage their participation in our procurement activities.
For information on which council contracts are coming up for renewal, please see our contracts register.
To see which contracts are currently out to tender, see the current tenders page.
To see the thresholds for the value of contracts determining the procurement procedures that they go through, see monetary thresholds.
The council is obliged under the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government to meet certain targets. These targets ensure that we continue to achieve best value for the council while at the same time promoting equal opportunities by keeping our tendering process open to and understandable by all contractors, particularly smaller businesses and voluntary organisations. It is recognized that these organisations are often able to provide as good a service as their larger counterparts but lack the necessary experience in local authority tendering.
How to do business with the public sector 684kb is Salisbury District Council’s guide
on selling
to councils. It is intended to provide general information on the tendering process and the procedures
that councils are legally obliged to follow. It also contains a 'do's and don’ts' section to help organisations
avoid common mistakes in tendering. You may also find it helpful to read our glossary
of common terms.
