Members of Salisbury District Council elect a chairman in May each year. The Chairman carries out several areas of work:

  • Chairs meetings of Full Council
  • Acts as an ambassador for Salisbury District Council and promotes its corporate policies, hosts sponsored events and welcomes visitors to South Wiltshire
  • Sells the area to businesses and tourists and promotes local democracy by raising the profile of the Authority through meeting different sectors of the community
  • Supports a particular area of the community, such as young people
