What is the review about?

Following the announcement of three schools in Laverstock to alter start times, to combat the traffic problems caused by the school run, the scrutiny Panel have decided to launch an investigation into the School Run in South Wiltshire.

The review is examining the existing provision of school transport in South Wiltshire, the attitude of pupils, parents and teachers towards school transport and identifying whether or not there is demand for additional public services and associated costs. The aim is to reduce congestion around schools in Salisbury with the benefits of fewer accidents, healthier children, reduced pollution and quicker journeys for all.

The review group will invite evidence from schools, parents, pupils, bus companies and members of the public to identify the key issues.

After having worked with Wiltshire County Council and the relevant members of Salisbury District Council's Cabinet, the group will then present the report of their findings and strategic recommendations for improvement to both Salisbury District Council's Cabinet and Wiltshire County Council.
