Council tax

Salisbury District Council collects council tax on behalf of a number of local authorities including Wiltshire County Council, Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue, town councils and parish councils. Salisbury District Council's share of council tax is less than 10%. This is used to fund all district council services.

We also collect non-domestic rates (NNDR), or business rates, from businesses and others who occupy non-domestic property, as their contribution towards the costs of local services. Business rates are pooled nationally and central government distributes the funds to local councils according to the number of people living in their area.
