The Chairman of Salisbury District Council for 2007/08, Cllr Bobbie Chettleburgh, chose Faiths in the Community as her theme for the year. Her aim is to celebrate and support the community work carried out across south Wiltshire by different faith groups.
The initiative will allow faith groups to showcase their community activities and raise awareness of their work. It will be an opportunity to share ideas and experiences and will bring members of different faiths together with the general aim of recognising their important contribution to local community life in south Wiltshire.
The launch event will be a discussion forum for faith groups in south Wiltshire. It will promote the initiative and give more information about how to take part in this exciting initiative. The main event, The Faiths in the Community Fair, will give faith groups the opportunity to promote their community work to the public and local organisations.
If you would like to take part in the launch event please contact us. Giving information about which your group and the type community work you are involved in would be very helpful but is not essential.
Taking the format of a public market place, groups can set up a table, and promote their work in an open forum. Workshops on the day will provide an opportunity to discuss local issues and identify ways in which the public and private sector may be better able to support the important community work of faith groups.
