Community development

The development of local communities is a priority of Salisbury District Council. And the council's approach to community development is set out in its Adobe PDFCommunity Development Policy: Building Strong Communities 29kb

This policy includes a number of objectives, and is based on sound community development principles:

  • That the community, groups and local people should be involved in decisions that will effect their quality of life
  • That strong local organisations, both statutory and voluntary, are enabled to represent the communities views and interest and effectively communicate with the Council and other key agencies
  • That Salisbury District Council's service plans, policies and strategies give high priority to local needs and reflect community aspirations
