Salisbury District Council CCTV operators are able to provide police officers with detailed and up-to-the-minute information. This helps the Police to deal with incidents quicker, and to allocate appropriate resources.
Currently more than 70 local retailers and businesses are part of the Radio Scheme. Shop and business staff can alert CCTV operators and Police immediately if an incident occurs. The scheme helps to protect staff and the public.
Close cooperation between local retailers and Salisbury District Council's CCTV operation also helps to combat credit card fraud and other 'high street' crime.
The Pub Watch schemes in Salisbury and Amesbury enable the exchange of useful information. The long-term aim of such schemes is to help reduce the number of alcohol-related incidents.
