Skin piercing registration

About this service

Anyone carrying out skin piercing (for example, acupuncture, tattooing, ear piercing and electrolysis) must be registered with Salisbury District Council.

Any premises at which skin piercing is performed must also be registered with the council. There is no charge for registering an individual or business premises.

The laws governing skin piercing are for the protection of customers – promoting hygienic treatment and reducing the risk of infection.

Registration is governed by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

  • A completed application form (download below).
  • An inspection of premises by an environmental health officer to ensure compliance with local byelaws and health and safety regulations.We will arrange an inspection of the premises after we receive your registration form.
