Caravans and mobile home site licence

About this service

A caravan or mobile home site must be licensed and have planning approval. However there are certain exemptions based on type and duration of use.

Licensed sites are subject to licence conditions based on 'Model Standards' which relate to safety, space, facilities and provisions on the site. The requirement for a licence was established by the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960.
