Applying for a Personal Licence

To apply for a personal licence you must be aged 18 or over and apply to the local authority where you live. If you live in the Salisbury District Council area, you will need to apply to:

You must submit all of the following:

  • A completed Microsoft Word DocumentApplication for a personal licence
  • A completed Microsoft Word DocumentDisclosure of convictions and declaration
  • A criminal convictions certificate or a criminal records certificate available from Disclosure Scotland. There is a charge for the certificate. The certificate must be dated no earlier than one month prior to your application.
  • Proof that you hold the new National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders qualification – at present there are three awarding bodies:
    * BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders QCA Accreditation no. 100/4866/2
    * GOAL Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders QCA Accreditation no. 100/4865/0
    * GQAL Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders QCA Accreditation no. 100/5040/1

  • Two passport size photographs, one of which is endorsed on the reverse as a true likeness by a solicitor or notary, a person of standing in the community or an individual with a professional qualification.

Payment must be submitted with the application, our preferred method of payment is by credit or debit card, the fee is £37.00. See the full list of fees.

Alternatively we will accept payment by cheque if made payable to Salisbury District Council.You should also write the words 'Licensing Application' on the back of the cheque. Making amendments to a Personal Licence

To make amendments to a personal licence, write to the authority that issued your licence detailing the amendments that are required. You must also enclose your existing licence and a fee of £10.50.
