Dangerous wild animal licence

About this service

Licences to keep a dangerous wild animal are issued under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976. A list of dangerous animals can be obtained from the council. Licences are renewable annually. The council will arrange for the premises to be inspected by a veterinary surgeon to ensure accommodation is suitable for welfare of animals. The licence will be issued subject to compliance with licence conditions and payment of the licence fee.

You will need

  • Completed application form.
  • Copy of current liability insurance certificate.

Payment

Cost of veterinary inspector's visit and administration fee. An invoice will be sent to you following the veterinary officer's inspection.
