Licensing
Certain types of business and pastimes require a licence. The council is responsible for allocating various types of licence and enforcing their use.
The 2003 Licencing Act resulted in major changes to the licensing of activities including providing public entertainment, late night refreshments, and the supply or sale of alcohol.
The council also provides licensing for taxi and private hire vehicles, skin piercing, dog breeding and other activities - for a full list see the Things you can do on the right side of this page.
