Numerous people suffer from food poisoning each year. The majority of cases being caused by poor food handling practices within the home. This extremely distressing illness can be prevented by following simple golden rules of food hygiene found on the advice page.
Common symptoms of food poisoning include vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, fever and malaise. If you think you are suffering from food poisoning you must seek advice from your Doctor. It is likely you will be asked to submit a specimen for the laboratory analysis, this is important because it helps to identify the particular agent which may be responsible for your illness and will help to find out where and how you may have contracted food poisoning.
If you have submitted a specimen the laboratory will automatically notify Environmental Services if you are suffering from food poisoning. You will then be contacted as part of an investigation to determine how you contracted food poisoning and to ensure that the spread of illness is prevented.
