In order to protect the health of residents and those who visit Salisbury and the surrounding district, Environmental Services promotes food safety through the provision of food safety advice, carrying out inspections, and if needed, by effectively enforcing the law.
The department investigates about eighty complaints a year where the customer has not been satisfied with the food they have purchased, and is notified about serious incidents of food poisoning. The majority of complaints received concern foreign bodies such as metal, insects, cigarette ends etc. found in the food or deterioration of the product.
We have recently introduced Scores on doors so customers can for themselves what standard a business has reached.
We also provide a pest control service.
See also food premises registration.
